Please note that this is for a Three of Pentacle card in general and for the Rider-Waite deck. Each art deck will have a slightly different meaning, depending on the deck itself. Use your intuition when reading the cards.

The Three of Pentacles is a card of hard work in a group setting. When it shows up in a reading, it symbolizes that you need to be able to work in groups, and put aside differences. You may want to do something alone, but you just can’t. By listening to others, you will find abundance and joy from your work. It may be a new experience, to work like this, but it will only bring growth.

This card also indicates that your creativity will shine through, as you take an established idea or foundation and reinvent it. This is a time where your foundation is solid enough (your rough draft of your book is written, your essay outlines are all drawn up, you’ve mastered the skills at oil painting, ect.) so you are free to let your intuition guide you in finishing the project. If you listen to other’s advice, your new style may take on a life of its own, and you will become known for it.

The Three of Pentacles also indicates that at this time, you are clearly task-oriented. You are not making vague plans, nor should you. You know what you want, and you know how to get it. Now you’re just putting in the sweat equity, as my aunt calls it. You may find it helpful and even incredibly natural-feeling to have a step by step plan or guide, as you will want to focus on the details at this time. The “big picture” can wait.

If you are already employed, this is the time to impress everyone by putting your best foot forward and making good first impressions. You have the knowledge, and now it’s time to show everyone around you what you can do.
If you are looking for a job, this card can indicate that trade work or construction is for you, or any other apprenticeship program. This card also indicates that you may do well in public service. The Three of Pentacles can also indicate it may be time for a career change, and the time is right for continued education.

When this card shows up, it’s a sign that personal relationships are maturing. You’re ready to move forward with your partner, and make it work. You may choose to move in together, or you may not. Either way, the relationship with continue to grow and you both benefit from being together.

The Three of Pentacles indicates your health is good, even if you feel under the weather: the flu may just refuse to leave, or an infection has begun to spread despite the first round of antibiotics. Your doctor may want some tests done, but the news will be good. If you do need advanced medical care, everything you receive will be state of the art.

If this card shows up in a spiritual reading, it indicates an initiation isn’t far behind. Your spiritual growth explodes at this time as you take in new information, relearn old information, and listen to the elders of your community. You may decide to undergo a full initiation ceremony, or just dabble and learn whatever you can. Either way, you will come out changed.

Reversed

When reversed, the Three of Pentacles indicates a missed opportunity. You may have been afraid to confront your supervisor about a raise, and now you are regretting the decision. Your work will seem unrewarding. You may be putting in loads of effort, but not getting desired results. This indicates that your foundation may not be as secure as you once thought. Revisiting your plan may help. The Three of Pentacles card thrives on group work, so when the card is reversed, you are wilfully ignoring others and refusing to let them help you or even offer advice.
